I have made a few blogs in which I talk about the newcomers in Super Smash Bros 4 and this blog will be the final blog regarding the roster.
I have both praised and criticized the new smash bros game for its roster. Even though I still think any new character is a good addition, the roster makes me believe that Nintendo has finally used up almost all potential smash bros characters. The Wii fit trainer made me suspect this but the other and more popular characters made me come to this conclusion.
While The Wii fit trainer and Miis are welcome additions, they make me wonder if Nintendo is desperate for characters. That fact that the Wii fit trainers is a joke character makes a perfect disguise for the desperate character choice. Again this is just speculation. I also think that having Miis makes the other additions mean less because they could simply be made by yourself.
This picture above made me realize that Nintendo has completed the third-party roster for all of the Super Smash Bros series. Four gaming legends all in one game. It has made any following third-party characters less significant in comparison. The Third-Party Roster Has Just Reached Its Peak!!!
Super Smash Bros has showed us that they are able to revive old series by including a character from it. Pit appearing in Brawl lead to the revival of Kid Icarus which then led to Palutena becoming a fighter in Smash Bros but things like this don't happen often.
Little Mac was the last major Nintendo character from the NES era. It makes me feel that Nintendo has one less era to pull characters from.
Nintendo showed us that Nintendo can still fit newer characters in like Greninja and Rosalina. Unfortunately, Smash Bros cannot just use new characters in hope that they catch on. Greninja was decide on to be part of the new Smash Bros Roster years before his debut in Pokemon. Luckily, Greninja turned out to be a fan favorite.
All of this makes me feel that if there are future installments in the Super Smash Bros series, It will be difficult to come up with new characters without almost completely filling it with new, minor, or obscure characters.
